The queen of country music, Dolly Parton, will take centre stage of the Liverpool Echo Arena on 31st August, 2011 as part of her 'Better Day' world tour.

The legendary singer is the most honoured female country performer of all time having received seven Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, five Academy of Country Music Awards and three American Music Awards, to name but a few.

Speaking about the tour, Dolly said: "I had a great time when we were in Europe on the last Backwoods Barbie tour and I expect to have even more fun on the up and coming Better Day Tour.

“I’m really looking forward to this and I can't wait to see all the fans again.  We have a lot fun things

for everybody! Get ready, here I come again!"

The 65 year-old, famed for songs such as ‘9 to 5’, ‘Jolene’ and ‘Here You Come Again’, has written over a staggering 4,000 songs and has performed on a top five country hit in each of the last five decades.

She also runs the Dollywood Foundation for underprivileged children and has recently launched The Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Europe, a scheme that gives every child a book each month from birth until kindergarten.

The library is already a huge success in the US and Canada and has had 10 local areas in the UK mailing a book each month to more than 15,000 children.

Speaking about its success in the UK, the first lady of country said: “My fans in the UK have always been so kind to me so I am thrilled that we have been able to provide a way to give something back to them.”

The announcement of the tour is another great boost to the Liverpool Echo Arena, adding a country sensation to an array of A-list stars set to play at throughout 2011.
